There was a child who was mistreated by her uncle and grandmother. This young girl named Cathy, not her real name; a 10-year-old girl.
The part of Cathy’s index finger was cut by her own grandmother because she was caught pilferage 20 pesos from her grandmother’s money.
According from Cathy’s grandfather, it was not the first time that Cathy pilferage money from them. Her grandfather defended that Cathy pilferage money a lot of times and it was too much. And all the money she pilferage already cost 7 thousand pesos.
Her uncle also mistreated her. Every time her uncle commanded her to bought cigarette and she came back without cigarette her uncle cut her hair even she explained that the storekeeper didn’t allowed her to buy a cigarette because she was a minor.
Cathy’s uncle defended himself and said that Cathy was the one who want to cut her hair. And he was trying to say that Cathy was just lying.
Cathy was staying on her grandmother because her mother was working abroad at Middle East. And her father already left them. Her grandmother and uncle violated Republic Act 7610.
No matter what a child did her or his family doesn’t have any right to hurt her or him. Instead of hurting them they should teach the child what is right and what is wrong. If the child did something wrong parents or guardians have a right to punish their child but in a right way.
