Li Zhenghua, a 24 year old woman was found trying to eat her baby by a shocked nurse days after he was born at a local hospital in China. Shocked doctors have described the moment they came across a mother trying to eat her newborn days after he was born.
The nurse saw her eating the infant's arm and as she made to rescue the infant.She raised the alarm and attempted to pull the infant free, but the mother declined to let go. Doctors were able to place a mouth guard inside the woman’s mouth and then pried her jaws apart.The baby’s arm was badly injured. He not only suffered heavy bruising, but also bleeding as a result of the bites.
The homeless woman, suspected to be mentally unstable, was taken to the hospital where she gave birth and attempted to eat her baby.Police have opened an investigation about the incident and social workers will decide whether it is still safe to return the baby to the woman.The baby has since been taken into the care of the government.
